Flowdan

An East London grime MC, Flowdan emerged around the turn of the 2000s in Bow, coming out of the garage and jungle scene as it shifted toward grime. A founding member of the Roll Deep collective led by Wiley, he made numerous appearances on pirate radio and on mixtapes, establishing a dark, measured style marked by a deep delivery and dancehall-inflected cadences. Over the years Flowdan broadened his scope into dubstep and British bass music, notably through regular collaborations with producer The Bug, which placed him within a sound-system aesthetic and industrial textures. Alongside his work with Roll Deep, he developed a solo discography — Original Dan (2014), Disaster Piece (2016) and Full Metal Jacket (2019) — where slow grime, staccato rhythms and heavy electronic atmospheres intersect. Active both on stage and in the studio, Flowdan has featured with producers from multiple generations, from the dubstep and UK bass scenes to mainstream electronic artists, while remaining connected to the grime networks and London MCs who accompanied his beginnings.
