Hanson
Formed in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson, Hanson rose to prominence in the mid-1990s with melodic pop rock informed by soft rock and power pop — first heard on the independent releases Boomerang (1995) and MMMBop (1996), before reaching the mainstream with Middle of Nowhere (1997) and the single “MMMBop.” Initially associated with immediate, hook-driven songwriting and tight vocal harmonies, Hanson later evolved toward more rock-, soul- and rhythm-and-blues-influenced arrangements, notably on This Time Around (2000) and then Underneath (2004), the latter marking their real turn to independence after founding 3CG Records. Regularly touring North America and Europe, the trio has also developed varied stage formats, from acoustic sets to orchestral concerts around String Theory (2018). Over the course of their long career they have released The Walk (2007), Shout It Out (2010), Anthem (2013), Finally It’s Christmas (2017), Against the World (2021) and Red Green Blue (2022), the latter distributing songwriting among the three brothers. Hanson also collaborated with Busted on “MMMBop 2.0” in 2023.
