FKJ - French Kiwi Juice
Born in Tours in 1990 as Vincent Fenton, FKJ—short for French Kiwi Juice—has been developing since the early 2010s a blend of nu-jazz, electronic music, rhythm and blues and French house with soulful overtones. A multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer, FKJ builds his tracks around supple grooves, keyboards, bass, guitar and hushed vocals, giving significant space to improvisation in his solo shows performed both in venues and at international festivals such as Coachella and Lollapalooza. FKJ first emerged in the milieu of the Roche Musique label before releasing the album French Kiwi Juice in 2017, which established a songwriting style marked by slow tempos, warm textures and a melodic sensibility nourished as much by jazz as by pop. That same year the improvised session “Tadow” with Masego became a landmark in his trajectory. He followed with the Ylang Ylang EP in 2019, focused on a more stripped-back approach, then Just Piano in 2021 and Vincent in 2022. On the latter FKJ pursues a more intimate approach, while the track “Greener,” recorded with Carlos Santana in 2022, highlights his taste for dialogue between funk, soul and fusion.
