EDX
Under the name EDX, Maurizio Colella, born in Zurich in 1976 to an Italian family, has developed since the mid-1990s a career focused on melodic house—at the crossroads of deep house, progressive house and a club-calibrated, understated electro house. EDX began by recording mixtapes for Tarot nights and became a resident at Zurich’s Oxa Club before collaborating with Leon Klein on several productions and side projects such as B2B Disco Size and The Headcleaner. In 2002 he founded the label Sirup Music, which became an important framework for his work as a producer and publisher. His profile broadened from 2007 with his remix of Dubfire’s “Roadkill,” followed by a series of remixes for house and electronic mainstream artists and his weekly podcast No Xcuses, launched in 2011. EDX’s sound rests on steady grooves, supple basslines, clear synths and melodic progressions that favor effectiveness over excess. For long formats he released On the Edge in 2012 and On the Edge - Remixed in 2014. He is also part of the Swiss collective Helvetic Nerds, alongside producers like Nora En Pure and Chris Reece.
