Sander van Doorn

Born in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, Sander van Doorn, whose real name is Sander Ketelaars, emerged in the mid-2000s with productions spanning tech-trance, tech-house, progressive house and electro house. He began releasing tracks in 2004, notably on Oxygen Recordings, and early in his career used aliases such as Sam Sharp, Filterfunk and Purple Haze. His career quickly grew across European clubs, with regular appearances in Ibiza and London and an Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1 in 2006. In 2007 he founded the label Doorn Records and released his debut album Supernaturalistic (2008), followed by Eleve11 (2011), on which his sound opened up toward a more direct house approach and vocal formats. At the same time he produced remixes for artists from the electronic, pop and rock scenes, including Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Sia, Lady Gaga and Robbie Williams. Throughout the 2010s he alternated solo productions with collaborations with Julian Jordan, Mayaeni, Martin Garrix, DVBBS and Armin van Buuren. Under the Purple Haze alias he returned to an aesthetic more directly tied to trance, notably documented by the album SPECTRVM in 2017.
