Chocolate Puma

Formed in Haarlem, the Netherlands, Chocolate Puma is the partnership of René ter Horst and Gaston Steenkist, active since 1991 in house and electronic music under several names, including Zki & Dobre, The Good Men, Riva and Jark Prongo. Their trajectory began in the early 1990s Dutch house scene with an aesthetic focused on percussion, vocal loops and club-oriented songwriting. As The Good Men the duo released 'Give It Up' in 1993, a house track with samba accents that was later sampled by Simply Red for 'Fairground' in 1995; they also issued the album Father in the Bathroom in 1994. In the late 1990s and early 2000s René ter Horst and Gaston Steenkist developed a more electro and tech-house direction through several aliases before firmly establishing the Chocolate Puma name with 'I Wanna Be U' in 2001. That same year their Riva project yielded 'Who Do You Love Now?' featuring Dannii Minogue. Since then Chocolate Puma has moved between vocal house, drier grooves and club-oriented formats, regularly collaborating with acts such as Bingo Players, Firebeatz, Oliver Heldens and Tommie Sunshine. They have also released on labels like Spinnin', Mixmash, Dim Mak and Pssst Music.
