Eagles of Death Metal

Founded in the late 1990s in Palm Desert, California, Eagles of Death Metal brings together singer-guitarist Jesse Hughes and multi-instrumentalist Josh Homme in a rock project that blends garage energy, rock’n’roll heritage and offbeat humor. Emerging from the desert rock scene associated with Queens of the Stone Age and the Desert Sessions, the band developed a more direct format with Eagles of Death Metal, built on simple riffs, fast tempos and choruses sung in unison. The debut album Peace, Love, Death Metal was released in 2004, followed by Death by Sexy in 2006 and Heart On in 2008, which established Eagles of Death Metal on international club and festival tours. After several years of activity interrupted by Josh Homme’s other projects, the band returned in 2015 with Zipper Down, largely recorded as a duo. The group’s career was marked that year by the Bataclan concert in Paris, which was cut short by the November 13, 2015 attacks; the band later resumed touring and released in 2019 the covers album Eagles of Death Metal Presents Boots Electric Performing The Best Songs We Never Wrote. On stage, Eagles of Death Metal presents itself as a variable lineup centered on Jesse Hughes, accompanied by different musicians depending on the tour.
