Nadia Reid

Born in Dunedin and linked to Port Chalmers in New Zealand, Nadia Reid has established herself on the independent folk scene with direct writing and songs centered on the voice, guitar and restrained arrangements, sitting between folk, indie folk and singer‑songwriter. After she began playing as a teenager, Reid moved through Christchurch, Auckland and then Wellington, releasing the EP Letters I Wrote and Never Sent in 2011 and recording her first album, Listen to Formation, Look for the Signs, released in 2015. This record launched her trajectory beyond New Zealand and led her to tour the United Kingdom and Europe. Reid continued with Preservation in 2017, recorded with New Zealand producer Ben Edwards and brought to the stage by a band that gives her compositions more breadth without diminishing intimacy. Her repertoire then evolved toward a broader form, where acoustic folk opened to more orchestral songwriting and discreet pop textures, as on Out of My Province in 2020. Present in both intimate venues and on international stages, Reid notably supported Ryan Adams and Sharon Van Etten, and performed on British television in Later... with Jools Holland. In 2025, Reid released Enter Now Brightness, her fourth album extending this balance between sparseness, personal narration and measured arrangements.
