Jonah Blacksmith

Formed in Hurup, in the Thy region of Denmark, Jonah Blacksmith brings together around brothers Simon and Thomas Alstrup an expanded collective that also includes their cousin Lasse Alstrup, in a setup that blends group dynamics with family songwriting. The project sits in a folk-rock register with pop-tinged accents, giving significant emphasis to vocal harmonies, choral refrains and an acoustic and electric instrumentation that remains legibile and direct. Jonah Blacksmith emerged in the early 2010s and released their debut album, Northern Trail, in 2014, followed by Jonah Blacksmith in 2017, then Brothers in 2020. In the same year, 2017, the band also released the live Twenty Seventeen, documenting their on-stage activity, a central aspect of their career in Denmark. In 2023, Jonah Blacksmith added the EP House On Fire to their discography, after the singles House On Fire in 2021 and Secrets In The Water in 2022. A fourth studio album, Ages, will appear in 2025. Their repertoire moves between melodic folk, expansive rock and Nordic-tradition songwriting, with tracks built for the collective as much as for the voice. In 2024, Jonah Blacksmith collaborates with Caroline Castell on the main title track of the television series Tidsrejsen 2.
