Alberta Cross
Born east of London in 2005 around Swedish Petter Ericson Stakee, from Uppsala, and Englishman Terry Wolfers, Alberta Cross immediately developed indie and alternative rock nourished by folk rock, rough guitars and melodies sharper than demonstrative. Initially conceived as a duo, the project made its mark with the mini-album The Thief & the Heartbreaker in 2007, before settling for a time in New York and expanding its live lineup. Alberta Cross then released Broken Side of Time in 2009, and Songs of Patience in 2012, two records that refine a sound that is American in texture and British in its writing, between electric tension, blues-rock inflections and acoustic passages. After Terry Wolfers left in 2013, Petter Ericson Stakee became the sole permanent member and steered Alberta Cross toward a more open format, surrounded by musicians for tours and recordings. The group continued this path with the Alberta Cross album in 2015, What Are We Frightened Of? in 2020 and Sinking Ships in 2023. Over the years, Alberta Cross has circulated between stages in London, Brooklyn, Los Angeles and international festival circuits, while occasionally crossing paths with artists such as Norah Jones or Ringo Starr in different studio and touring contexts.
