Connor Selby
Between British blues and American soul, Connor Selby has developed a guitar- and voice-centred musical language, with compositions at the crossroads of rhythm and blues, gospel and classic rock. Born in Essex and based in London, he first came to notice on the English blues scene in the late 2010s, performing frequently in clubs and at festivals. The guitarist and singer refined a style characterised by melodic playing, often mid-tempos, and a taste for stripped-back arrangements that place the voice at the centre. Connor Selby primarily leads a project under his own name, backed by a band that accompanies him across British and European stages, while he also regularly appears as a support act for artists from the blues, soul and rock spheres. His role opening for The Who at Wembley in 2019 is a notable milestone in his career. Several honours at the UK Blues Awards in the young artist category further established his standing on the specialised circuit, while he continues to write songs in classic formats, blending slow ballads, soul influences and decidedly blues-tinged colours.
