Kemmler

Hailing from the Marseille scene, Kemmler, whose real name is Yoann Houazi, has developed his career in French rap since the mid-2000s, first as one half of the duo Renega with Verbal and later as a solo artist. Writing occupies a central place for Kemmler: his rap is text-focused, with tracks where melody often takes over, and an aesthetic that blends rap, urban chanson and more introspective tones. After several early singles and short formats, he released the album Rose in 2018 and Gris Cœur in 2021, a project that extends the EPs Gris and Cœur. His discography continued with &Moi in 2022 and Alain in 2024. Across his releases, Kemmler has moved toward a more hybrid register, between personal storytelling, social observation and sung choruses, while occasionally collaborating with artists such as Youssoupha, Chilla, NTO, Joachim Pastor, Léa Castel and Sofiane. He thus circulates between rap stages and more cross-disciplinary formats, with a direct, melodic style highly focused on language.
