Heroe
Under the name Heroe, Mehdi develops an intimate pop songwriting from Normandy that blends indie pop, dream pop and suspended chanson, with sparse arrangements and a melancholic tone. Franco-Moroccan, Heroe initially wrote in English, shaped by a culture marked by independent rock, lo-fi and bands like Daughter and Angus & Julia Stone, before evolving his project towards French. His first spotlight came with “Prom Night”, shared by the YouTube channel Inès K, and he gradually built his repertoire on Norman stages and through local talent showcases. During this period he met Léo Chatelier, founder of the Duchess label, whom he later joined after moving to Paris. In 2021 Heroe released the EP You, still in English, then opened a new chapter with French lyrics and work with Arthur Lacroix and Marc Le Goff. His music keeps an acoustic, vaporous core, where guitar, airy textures and a restrained voice serve songs centered on cracks, memories and inner movements. Heroe also collaborated with rapper Rxseboy on “Leaving”, another milestone in a trajectory that moves between independent pop and contemporary French chanson.
