Sadurn
Formed in Philadelphia around the songs of G DeGroot, Sadurn takes shape in 2017 as a solo project before becoming first an acoustic duo with Jon Cox, then a full band with the arrival of Amelia Swain and Tabitha Ahnert. The quartet evolves in an indie folk register with slowcore and indie rock contours, with pared-down writing, sober guitars, restrained rhythm and a marked attention to calm textures and fragile voices. After a first EP, Friends with your Friends, released in 2017, Sadurn released Gleam in 2019 as well as a split with Ther the same year on the Dead Definition label, in the wake of Philadelphia's DIY scene. This move from an intimate format to a larger group is reflected on Radiator, their first album released in 2022 on Run for Cover Records, where Sadurn develops a broader sound without abandoning a hushed aesthetic, between indie folk, rock slow, and melodies in suspension. In 2024, Sadurn also appears on the film I Saw the TV Glow soundtrack with the track "How Can I Get Out", extending the band's circulation between independent scenes, concerts in small and medium venues and filmed live formats. Sadurn remains associated with introspective writing and a discreet collective approach, anchored in the American independent network.
