Gia Ford
Born in Sheffield as Molly Emma Elizabeth McCormick and raised between that city and Wilmslow, Gia Ford has been developing a project since 2019 that sits between alt‑pop, dark pop and art rock, with songwriting driven by narrative and frequently dark atmospheres. Gia Ford first appeared on Dirty Hit with the mixtape Poster Boy in 2019, followed by Murder in the Dark in 2020 — two releases that still bore a synth‑pop flavour with funk and lo‑fi hues, partly shaped in collaboration with Fred Macpherson. Over subsequent singles, including This Town (co‑written with Låpsley and Steph Marziano), she moved toward a broader, more dramatic sound with a stronger focus on characters. After leaving Dirty Hit, Gia Ford signed to Chrysalis Records in 2023 and released the singles Alligator and Falling in Love Again, before issuing her debut album Transparent Things in 2024. The record continues the shift toward a more organic alternative pop, threaded with references to rock, the ballad form and a light gothic aesthetic. On stage, Gia Ford has played at Tramlines, Latitude and Green Man, and supported Marika Hackman on tour across the UK and Europe.
