Lizzie Esau

Born in London and raised in Ryton near Newcastle upon Tyne, Lizzie Esau has been developing a project since 2020 that sits between indie rock, alternative rock and pop rock, with songwriting that early on also explored lo-fi, bedroom pop and spoken word. Initially active on SoundCloud and in the northeast England local scene, she began with open mics before releasing the singles “Young Minds Run Blind” in 2020 and “Haven’t You Heard?” in 2021. Her first EP, Perspectives, was released in 2022, followed by Deepest Blue in 2023 and Spilling Out The Truth in 2024 — three records that mark a shift toward a more direct rock sound driven by crisp guitars, taut choruses and lyrics focused on anxiety, relationships and urban life. Lizzie Esau has shared bills or opened for Baby Queen, Beabadoobee, The Amazons, Upsahl and Swim School, and has played festivals such as BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Live at Leeds, Dot to Dot and Glastonbury on the BBC Introducing stage. In 2023 she signed with LAB Records, and in 2024 she also recorded a cover of “I’m a Man” for the soundtrack of the series My Lady Jane.
