Her New Knife

Based in Philadelphia, Her New Knife brings together Edgar Atencio on vocals and guitar, Ben Kachler on guitar, Carolina Schooley on bass and Elijah Ford on drums. The quartet operates between shoegaze, alternative rock and post-punk, with songwriting built on abrasive guitars, hazy textures, a dense bass and drums that play in a repetitive, almost mechanical manner. Active since the early 2020s, Her New Knife has grown within the American independent scene through short releases that establish a sound both tense and melodic. The EP chrome is lullaby continues this direction with a tighter approach, where saturation and noise also leave room for fragile vocal lines and songs in a direct format. On stage, Her New Knife carries these contrasts through without smoothing them, working with the physical impact of volume, rhythmic repetition and more suspended passages.
