Conan

Formed in Liverpool in 2006 around guitarist and vocalist Jon Davis, Conan initially began as a duo before becoming a trio, now completed by David Ryley on bass and Johnny King on drums. The British band operates between doom metal and sludge, with a very slowed-down, massive and abrasive sound that Conan themselves describe as “caveman battle doom” — a formulation that points to simple, heavy, repetitive riffs, rough vocals and imagery centred on war, myth and confrontation. After the early short releases Battle in the Swamp (2007) and Horseback Battle Hammer (2010), Conan released the album Monnos in 2012, followed by Blood Eagle (2014), Revengeance (2016), Existential Void Guardian (2018), Evidence of Immortality (2022) and Violence Dimension (2025). Over the years Conan has also circulated their music across the international metal and doom scene with appearances at festivals such as Roadburn and Maryland Deathfest, while maintaining a tight sonic identity built on slow tempos, sustained tension and songwriting founded on the physical impact of the tracks.
