Ductape

Formed in Istanbul in the late 2010s, the Turkish duo Ductape works within a post‑punk and darkwave vein infused with coldwave and goth influences. The sound is carried by Çağla Güler’s voice and the guitars and programming of Furkan Akgün. Ductape builds a taut, melodic universe where repetitive basslines, minimalist rhythms and reverberant guitars structure songs often sung in Turkish and English, with a strong emphasis on dark atmospheres and melancholic motifs. First noticed through digital releases and an active presence on Istanbul’s alternative scene, the band quickly expanded its audience by collaborating with the Swiss Dark Nights label, which released the album Labirent in 2022. Ductape then toured clubs and specialist festivals across Europe, integrating into a network of venues and bookings dedicated to post‑punk and synth‑oriented music. Through its releases and live shows, Ductape has refined a balance between new wave heritage, contemporary electronic textures and direct songwriting, favouring efficient song formats rooted in a sombre yet accessible aesthetic.
