Thus

Born in Aarhus, Denmark, Thus has been developing a melodic, progressive form of death metal since 2020 that combines rhythmic intensity, intricate guitars and songcraft attentive to dynamic variation. The project was launched by Frederik Jensen, vocalist and guitarist, and later took shape as a quartet with Sebastian Skousgaard on bass, Tobias Hornstrup on guitar and Daniel Nielsen on drums. Thus operates with a DIY approach, paying careful attention to both songwriting and the visual identity of its releases. In May 2024 Thus released the EP The Terminal Condition of Existence, consisting of five tracks first issued as singles, each accompanied by a video and visuals created by Frederik Jensen. The drum parts on that recording were performed by Sebastian Lanser, a musician who has played with acts such as Obscura, Obsidius and Panzerballett. The same year Thus won the 2024 Wacken Metal Battle and appeared on festival stages including Copenhell, Inferno and Wacken Open Air. Their sound frames a modern take on death metal around clear melodic lines, technical sequences and a constant tension between precision and impact.
