Jean Dawson

Between Tijuana and San Diego, Jean Dawson shapes a Mexican American identity defined by constant movement between cultures that feeds directly into his music. Active in a hybrid space between experimental pop, alternative rap, indie rock and punk-like energy, he blends hook-driven melodies, overdriven guitars, hip-hop-inspired rhythms and more contemplative passages. First discovered online among a highly connected generation of artists, Jean Dawson initially released his tracks independently before formalizing that work with the project Bad Sports (2019), then the album Pixel Bath (2020), where his contrasts between delicate vocals, noisy crescendos and nods to internet culture became more pronounced. With CHAOS NOW* (2022), he pushed this mix of pop, rap and distortion even further, while opening his world to a few targeted collaborations, notably with A$AP Rocky and Mac DeMarco. On stage, he moves between rap contexts, rock venues and alternative-leaning festivals, maintaining a highly personal approach to writing and performance.
