Lila Iké

Part of the new wave of Jamaican reggae, Lila Iké—born Alecia Grey in Christiana, Manchester parish—has been building since the 2010s a path between roots reggae, soul influences and touches of RnB. After relocating to Kingston, she joined the In.Digg.Nation collective and label led by Protoje, which structured her first professional steps and brought her to numerous local and international stages. Early singles "Biggest Fan" (2017), "Second Chance" (2018) and "Where I'm Coming From" (2019) established songwriting focused on the intimate, family relationships, spirituality and everyday Jamaican life, carried by a supple voice that alternates between singing and deejay-like phrasing. In 2020 the EP The ExPerience, released via In.Digg.Nation Collective and RCA, synthesizes this aesthetic—contemporary reggae, lovers rock heritage and more urban sonorities. At the same time, Lila Iké has collaborated repeatedly with Protoje, notably on the track "Not Another Word" (2019), and has toured Europe and North America, performing her songs in acoustic settings or with a full band. This combination of modern reggae, soul and RnB places Lila Iké at the heart of a Jamaican generation that revisits roots codes while remaining close to their cultural foundations.
