Juan Hansen

Based in Buenos Aires, Juan Hansen develops an electronic music project conceived for live performance, where composition, improvisation and interpretation intersect. Trained in academic music at the Conservatorio Juan José Castro and in contemporary music at the EMC in Buenos Aires, he builds a melodic and atmospheric aesthetic in which voice, guitar, keyboards and electronic textures converse with structures close to melodic house and techno. His practice sits within a hybrid scene—between club, performance and art contexts—with appearances at festivals and venues such as Mutek, Crobar, Niceto, The Bow, Macarena Club and La Terraza in Barcelona, as well as the Malba Museum, Centro Cultural Recoleta and the Ruth Benzacar gallery. On stage, Juan Hansen favors an evolving format focused on the gradual buildup of mood and on a dynamic interplay between electronic pulse and organic material. Over the course of his career he has also shared bills with artists like Dixon, Hernán Cattáneo, Patrice Bäumel, Adriatique, Paul Kalkbrenner, Jan Blomqvist, Johannes Brecht and Giorgia Angiuli, markers of his rootedness in contemporary electronic and live scenes.
