Floor Jansen

Dutch singer born in Goirle in 1981, Floor Jansen developed early a vocal practice that combines classical technique and rock culture, before studying at the Rockacademie in Tilburg and later teaching voice. She joined in the late 1990s the gothic-turned-symphonic metal group After Forever, with whom she recorded several studio albums until the band's split in 2009, while refining a style oriented toward orchestral arrangements and progressive structures. Floor Jansen then founded ReVamp, a modern metal project with melodic accents, active from 2010 to 2016, and later took part in Northward, a hard rock–oriented duo with Norwegian guitarist Jørn Viggo Lofstad; their self-titled album was released in 2018. From 2012 she became Nightwish's touring singer and then an official member of the Finnish symphonic metal band, contributing notably to the albums Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015) and Human. :II: Nature. (2020), her wide-ranging voice moving between lyrical singing, pop nuances and metal intensity. Alongside numerous collaborations on the European metal scene and television appearances in the Netherlands, Floor Jansen embarked on a solo career closer to orchestral pop-rock and released her first album under her own name, Paragon, in 2023.
