Burning Witches

Formed in Brugg, Switzerland around guitarist Romana Kalkuhl, Burning Witches has developed since 2015 a classic heavy metal sound fed by power metal, rooted in an aesthetic directly linked to 1980s metal: twin guitars, driving rhythms and upfront vocals. Conceived from the outset as an all-female band, the lineup first stabilised with Seraina Telli on vocals, Jeanine Grob on bass and Lala Frischknecht on drums, before several personnel changes, including Laura Guldemond joining on vocals in 2019 and Courtney Cox becoming a permanent guitarist in 2023. After an initial self-release and the album Burning Witches (2017), the band followed with Hexenhammer (2018), Dance with the Devil (2020), The Witch of the North (2021), The Dark Tower (2023) and Inquisition (2025). Part of this discography was produced with V.O. Pulver and Marcel Schirmer, contributing to a denser sound without abandoning its traditional foundations. Burning Witches regularly tours the European metal scene, appearing at festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Summer Breeze and Rockharz, and maintains a style centred on melodic, fast, dark heavy metal, with historical, fantastical and occult themes.
