Brainstorm
Formed in the late 1980s in Heidenheim an der Brenz in southern Germany, Brainstorm became part of the European power metal scene with a sound that blends classic heavy metal, brisk tempos and clear vocal melodies. The band, founded around guitarists Torsten Ihlenfeld and Milan Loncaric with drummer Dieter Bernert, released its first studio album, 'Hungry', in 1997, followed by 'Unholy' in 1998, which established Brainstorm on the club and metal festival circuit. The arrival of singer Andy B. Franck in the late 1990s marked a significant step in the band's identity, confirmed by records such as 'Ambiguity' (2000), 'Metus Mortis' (2001) and 'Soul Temptation' (2003), where a style based on massive riffs, a tight rhythmic foundation and immediately identifiable choruses became clearer. Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Brainstorm toured Europe extensively and issued a steady stream of albums, including 'Downburst' (2008), 'Firesoul' (2014), 'Midnight Ghost' (2018) and 'Wall of Skulls' (2021), consolidating a lasting place in the German power metal landscape while retaining a compact lineup centered on the group's historical core.
