Info
Twenty years after his manifesto album Gibraltar, Abd al Malik presents a performance that blends music, spoken word, dance and visual art. A multi-talented artist, Abd al Malik works as a singer-songwriter, director, screenwriter and stage director. When Gibraltar was released in 2006, it marked his breakthrough album. On the substantive side, the rapper addresses with eloquence the migration-related issues of the time, sketching finely etched portraits. On the formal side, he forges a singular musical identity at the crossroads of multiple influences: rap, jazz, slam, French chanson and inspirations drawn from poetry. The lyrics are powerful, pulsating with an urgency to understand, to act and to unite. Today he celebrates this milestone in French culture, enriched by more recent compositions, through a dialogue that sings of sharing and humanity. Surrounded by four musicians, a dancer and a carefully developed stage production, the artist returns to center stage.
