Info
On February 26, 2027, Helena Deland plays at Petit Bain and comes to defend Eternity Shrugs, an album that starts from an intimate gesture laid bare, like a diary left open to be read. This idea threads through her songs: the boundary between what we keep to ourselves and what we entrust to the public, with that gentle tension that makes her chamber pop feel so close. After the more electronic breadth of Someone New and the folk vein of Goodnight Summerland, Deland broadens her palette again without losing her thread: a voice with intimate phrasing, the guitar as an anchor, and patient arrangements all around. Piano, organ, Rhodes, bass, altos and woodwinds respond to one another, carried by percussion with fine textures. On stage, these songs can seem stripped down and then fill with details, as if the music were built before our eyes, in small, deliberate touches.
