Info
On November 28, 2026, Nubiyan Twist lands at Blue Note London with its ever-shifting, big-crew energy. Born in Leeds in the early 2010s and now moving between Leeds and London, the collective—led by composer and guitarist Tom Excell—works like a meeting point between contemporary jazz, afrobeat, soul and hip-hop. Expect tight arrangements that leave room for improvisation, punchy horn lines, and vocals that steer the set from groove-driven afro rhythms to more song-focused moments.
Over the years, the band has built its sound across records like Nubiyan Twist, Jungle Run, Freedom Fables and Find Your Flame, often shaped by collaborations and a strong ensemble feel. Live, that translates into music that breathes and shifts in real time, with the brass section and rhythm team pushing the momentum while melodies and hooks keep it direct. A night for anyone into jazz that actually moves.
