Info
On January 26, 2027, at O2 Academy Birmingham, two major UK acts share the bill: The Psychedelic Furs and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
The Psychedelic Furs come with that London post-punk DNA that quickly opened onto darker, more melodic new wave. Expect a set built on tense guitars, roaming basslines, touches of keys and sax, and Richard Butler’s unmistakable rough-edged voice. It’s the kind of catalogue where nervous energy and pop hooks can sit in the same song, with classics from their early-80s run and later material that keeps the same balance between bite and melody.
The Jesus and Mary Chain, formed in East Kilbride around Jim and William Reid, deliver their signature collision of sweet songwriting and abrasive distortion. Their noise-pop blueprint still hits hard live: compact tunes buried in feedback, then moments that lean more stripped-back and melancholic, reflecting the shifts from Psychocandy through Darklands and beyond, right up to their more recent records.
