On October 18, 2026, Erykah Badu checks into the Grand Rex in Paris for a concert that promises to roam freely through all that defines her signature: a fluid soul, straddling R&B, funk, hip-hop and jazz-flavored bursts, propelled by a supple phrasing and rhythms that breathe.
Revealed in the late 1990s with Baduizm and then the live album Live, she quickly established a precise writing and a sense of organic groove, capable of moving from tenderness to syncopation without warning. Her journey with the Soulquarians collective (from The Roots to D’Angelo) left traces in her habit of bending formats and keeping the singing at the center, even as production grew denser.
From Mama’s Gun to the two installments of New Amerykah, Badu alternates introspection, political awareness and experimentation, always with that same art of nuance. On stage, people come as much for the songs as for the way she reinvents them, through vibrant arrangements and a presence that holds everything together.
