On 23 January 2027 Amorphis will bring the 'Borderlands Tour 2027' to Haus Auensee in Leipzig. Since 1990 the Helsinki band has repeatedly opened its sound: from death metal with doom heaviness to a melodic, progressive approach rich in atmosphere, keyboards, and a fondness for Finnish motifs. Live, the whole thing thrives on the tension between powerful riffs and these melancholic, expansive melodies—plus the switch between clean vocals and growls that gives the songs their dynamics. Also on the bill is Insomnium, likewise from Finland, active since 1997 and known for their melodic-death foundation at mid-tempo, which often leans into the doomier side and takes time for mood. Harmonized guitars, dark, narrative arcs, and this typically Nordic melancholy stand at the center—sometimes forceful, sometimes contemplative, often with long builds of tension. An evening that brings together the Finnish side of metal in two very different, but related, approaches.
