Info

Canadian indie/electropop singer-songwriter Lights plays Manchester Academy on 11 May 2026. Active since the late 2000s, she has shaped a sound where synth-pop rubs shoulders with indie and pop rock. Early releases set the tone with keyboard-led melodies and direct vocals, from her debut EP to The Listening in 2009. Siberia followed with denser electronic textures, then Siberia Acoustic reframed those songs in a pared-back register. Little Machines refined her electronic songwriting, while Midnight Machines offered further reinterpretations in a semi-acoustic vein. With Skin & Earth, she connected her pop narratives to a comic series she wrote and illustrated, merging studio work and visuals. PEP in 2022 continued the balance between rhythmic, synth-driven cuts and more introspective tracks. Collaborations with Bring Me The Horizon and Owl City positioned her at the crossroads of indie pop and alternative rock. On stage, her sets tend to blend pulsing electronics and stripped arrangements drawn from across her catalog.
