Rainbow Kitten Surprise play O2 Academy Birmingham on 5 June 2026. Formed in Boone, North Carolina, the quintet built by Ela Melo and Darrick “Bozzy” Keller blends indie rock and alternative folk with close harmonies and sharp dynamic shifts. On stage, they move from hushed confessionals to louder, guitar‑driven passages, threading personal storytelling through melodic turns and tight rhythms. The set navigates their path from early DIY recordings and RKS to How to: Friend, Love, Freefall and Love Hate Music Box (2024), where layered vocals and elastic arrangements stretch the songs without losing focus.
Cigarettes @ Sunset open the night with their Boone‑rooted “Possum Rock”, a meeting point between Americana, indie and Appalachian folk. Led by Garrett Dellinger, they shape songs around direct vocals, rough‑edged guitars and a violin that links rock drive to mountain textures. Compact and grounded, their sound leans on collective energy, string arrangements and a strong sense of place from the American Southeast.
