Info
On July 16, 2026, at 6:00 PM at New Morning, The Bad Plus presents its farewell tour.
After a quarter-century, Reid Anderson and Dave King believe that their statement as The Bad Plus has been made. The 2026 farewell tour is an opportunity to see the group live and celebrate its journey. Each performance offers a voyage through their career, honoring the music, spirit and innovation that have defined The Bad Plus since its formation.
Since its beginnings in 2000, The Bad Plus has blended original compositions with an unconventional range of covers drawn from outside the jazz world — from Ornette Coleman and Cole Porter to Black Sabbath, Aphex Twin, the Pixies and Nirvana. Their album These Are Vistas (2003) was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered. Now on its 18th album, the group continues its explorations.
After 21 years as a trio, founding members Reid Anderson (bass) and Dave King (drums) have moved to a piano-less configuration, joined by Ben Monder (guitar) and Chris Speed (tenor saxophone). Their latest album, Complex Emotions, released in late 2024, reflects these explorations.
