Big Country channels the taut, chiming sound the band forged in Scotland in the early 80s, where guitars hint at folk inflections without losing drive. Carrying the legacy of Stuart Adamson, today’s lineup built around Bruce Watson keeps that mix of tension and uplift at the core, with songs shaped for sing-along refrains and lean, propulsive grooves.
China Crisis, formed by Gary Daly and Eddie Lundon near Liverpool, leans into supple basslines, airy keyboards and clean guitars. Their set draws on synth-pop and sophisti-pop, with reflective writing that slips from electronic textures to softer pop contours, all with a light, melodic touch.
The Icicle Works, founded by Ian McNabb in Liverpool, blends bright guitar pop with a darker undercurrent. From early singles to broader, later arrangements, the songs balance crisp hooks and indie tension, switching easily between driving rhythms and more expansive moments.
