Opus Kink play jazz-and-country-laced punk. Formed in Brighton (UK) in 2017, the band are known for live shows and a sound built around a horn section and a ragged, sardonic delivery. They bear passing resemblance to post-punk and no-wave acts like The Pop Group, The Birthday Party and The Lounge Lizards, and they weave older influences such as choral, folk, country, Latin, Weimar cabaret and cruise-ship crooning into their music. Their songs address themes of violence, shame, sexual politics, anxiety and emptiness, with an absurdist tone.
