Psychedelic Porn Crumpets

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets come from Perth and are centred around songwriter-guitarist Jack McEwan. Since the mid-2010s the band have been building a compact yet layered form of neo-psychedelia: heavily saturated guitars, tightly stacked riffs, tempo changes and sharp turns, with echoes of garage, prog and stoner. On the two-part High Visceral, Pt. 1 (2016) and Pt. 2 (2017) they established their wall-of-sound and repetitive melodic motifs. With And Now for the Whatchamacallit (2019) they shortened song structures without loosening the texture, followed by Shyga! The Sunlight Mound (2021), which ratchets up the tempo and feels more direct, and Night Gnomes (2022), where darker, atmospheric layers seep in.

Live, the group translates this into sets rich in tension and detail: tight transitions, riffs that fan out and rhythms that are constantly shifting. Without making ornamentation superfluous, the band places the emphasis on dynamics and texture, allowing songs from different periods to click together seamlessly. On 6 March 2026 Psychedelic Porn Crumpets will play the Melkweg in Amsterdam, with a show that brings their catalogue—from early High Visceral material to the more recent records—together in one continuous flow.
