Psychedelic Porn Crumpets

On 7 March 2026 Psychedelic Porn Crumpets will play at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. The band from Perth, formed around songwriter and guitarist Jack McEwan, has been active in the Australian neo-psych scene since the mid-2010s and builds a sound from layers of fuzz, pronounced tempo shifts and tight melodic motifs. Their songs cross garage, prog-influences and stoner, with structures that open up and snap shut. After self-releases they followed with High Visceral Pt. 1 and Pt. 2, records that established their wall of sound and repetitive patterns. On And Now for the Whatchamacallit they pursued shorter forms without sacrificing texture; Shyga! The Sunlight Mound ramped up the pace, and Night Gnomes explored darker atmospheres. Live this translates into tightly constructed sets in which riffs succeed one another rapidly, breaks redirect the momentum and contrasts in dynamics carry the whole. In Amsterdam the band will draw on material from that trajectory, from early fuzz storms to more recent, more atmospheric pieces, with a strong focus on detail and rhythmic hooks.
