The Paper Kites

Info

The Paper Kites bring their hushed indie folk to The Centre in Vancouver on May 21, 2026. Formed in Melbourne around Sam Bentley and Christina Lacy, the quintet leans on close harmonies, acoustic guitars and soft, dream-tinged textures. On stage, they move from slow-burning ballads to gently electric, after-hours moods, drawing across their catalogue: the early EP spirit of Woodland and Young North, the crisp melodies of States, the nocturnal pull of twelvefour, the paired 2018 records, the duet-led Roses, and the earthier swing of At the Roadhouse. The set keeps the writing front and center, with arrangements that leave space for voices and small melodic details.

Also on the bill, Canadian singer-songwriter Donovan Woods brings a storyteller’s focus shaped between Toronto and Nashville. His songs sit between folk, country and americana, built on understated guitar lines and a measured delivery. From The Hold Up and The Widowmaker through Both Ways and the pared-back Without People, he favors intimate narratives and unadorned hooks. Live, he tends to keep it minimal, letting lyrics carry the room while the band adds light, warm color.
