Info

On April 18, 2026, Black Sea Dahu will be at Le Trabendo in Paris. Centered on Swiss singer-songwriter Janine Cathrein, the band functions as a collective and likes to vary its line-ups, from the studio to international stages. Their indie folk, with acoustic hues, rests on Cathrein’s voice, guitars, strings and backing vocals, with songwriting that breathes and leaves room for live dynamics. On stage, Black Sea Dahu prioritizes ensemble balance and careful attention to sound.

Their debut album White Creatures, co-produced by Gavin Gardiner (The Wooden Sky), drew comparisons to Ben Howard and Big Thief. Since then the band has toured extensively, shared bills with José González, Lucy Rose and Sophie Hunger, and performed at Reeperbahn (2018), The Great Escape (2019), m4music (2019), MaMA (2019) and Eurosonic (2020). More recently, they reissued the EP Kingdom North, recorded when the project was still called JOSH. The singles “Glue,” its live version “Glue – Live at Royal,” and “Transience” point toward the direction of the forthcoming album I Am My Mother.
