On 4 June 2026 at the 6MIC in Aix-en-Provence, Pain Magazine brings together Birds in Row, Louisahhh and Maelstrom in a joint project where post-hardcore and industrial techno meet.
Coming from the post-hardcore scene, Birds in Row is a French trio known for the raw energy of their live shows and sharp lyrics. Since 2009 the band has been touring festivals and venues—from Dour to Roadburn and ArcTanGent—while remaining true to a DIY ethic and a collective approach.
On the electronic side, the Franco-American duo formed by Maelstrom and Louisahhh have collaborated since 2013. Their first album, released in 2023 on their label RAAR, sets out a clear vision: techno made with punks in mind. Depending on the context they perform hybrid live sets, DJ sets or solo shows, continually evolving their methods and formats.
The meeting of these two worlds grew out of a winter session that became an album in 16 days. The single “Violent God” sets the tone: Birds in Row’s heavy, rough guitars, Maelstrom’s tense and precise machines, and Louisahhh’s raw vocals. The track probes the tipping point between belief, cult and dissent, between the intimate and the political.
On stage, Pain Magazine embraces this direct dialogue between riffs, rhythms and vocals, revealing the contours of a shared, dynamic entity.
