Birds In Row

Formed in Laval, in the Mayenne, in 2009, Birds In Row operate within a post-hardcore register informed by screamo and melodic hardcore, delivering a compact, tense and often abrasive sound where highly charged sequences sit alongside slower, darker developments. The trio first released the EPs Rise of the Phoenix (2009) and Cottbus (2010) on Vitriol before joining Deathwish Inc. in 2011. The compilation Collected appeared in 2012, the same year as their debut album You, Me & the Violence, which accompanied a rise in visibility on European and North American hardcore stages, notably through tours with Loma Prieta, Touché Amoré, Defeater, Converge and The Chariot. After a lineup change in 2014, Birds In Row followed with the EP Personal War and a split with WAITC in 2015. Their second album, We Already Lost the World, was released in 2018 and marked a more expansive songwriting approach without abandoning the band’s intensity. Birds In Row then released Gris Klein in 2022 and continue to move forward with a pronounced collective identity, also reflected in imagery that favors the group over the individual.
