Info

Embrace headline The Piece Hall in Halifax on 13 June 2026. Formed in Bailiff Bridge in the early 1990s by brothers Danny and Richard McNamara, joined by Steve Firth, Mike Heaton and Mickey Dale, the band came up through the britpop era with a melodic, guitar-led indie rock that has shifted over time from urgency to a more reflective touch. After early singles like All You Good Good People, Fireworks and One Big Family, they released The Good Will Out (1998), followed by Drawn from Memory (2000) and If You’ve Never Been (2001). Out of Nothing (2004) featured Gravity, written by Chris Martin, then came This New Day (2006). Back after a long pause, Embrace returned with Embrace (2014), Love Is a Basic Need (2018) and How to Be a Person Like Other People (2022), a catalogue broad enough to revisit across the night.

Sharing the bill, Idlewild bring their Edinburgh-born indie rock, formed in 1995 around Roddy Woomble, Rod Jones and Colin Newton. Starting with a tense, fast sound that bridged punk and indie, they sharpened their writing on 100 Broken Windows (2000) and opened up further on The Remote Part (2002) and Warnings/Promises (2005). After Make Another World (2007) and Post Electric Blues (2009), the band paused, returning in 2013 with a refreshed lineup including Andrew Mitchell and Luciano Rossi, and the albums Everything Ever Written (2015) and Interview Music (2019).
