Sumac Dub

Active on the French dub scene since the mid-2010s, Sumac Dub develops an electronic project that blends sound system culture, bass music and ethnic influences. Based in France, the producer initially distributed his tracks through the netlabel ODGProd, joining a network of artists exploring the connections between digital dub, electro and world music. Sumac Dub’s sound rests on strong basslines, stepper rhythms and a melodic approach marked by orientalist motifs, drifting pads and ambient textures, producing pieces that are often instrumental but open to occasional vocal contributions. Over the years Sumac Dub has multiplied collaborations across the European dub and bass scene, played specialised nights and festivals, and developed a live set focused on sonic storytelling, alternating contemplative passages with more club-oriented sequences. This approach places Sumac Dub in a hybrid space between dub roots, contemporary electronic music and downtempo explorations.
