Under the stage name jolle, singer, songwriter and voice actress Julia Pettke develops German-language urban pop at the intersection of indie, electronic music and introspective RnB. Born to parents of Polish origin and raised in Herford in North Rhine-Westphalia, she studied in Bielefeld before moving to Hamburg, where she initially worked at an advertising agency. A karaoke performance in the St. Pauli district led to her first national campaign, while her involvement with the organization Viva con Agua expanded her artistic network and anchored her in the German pop and rap scenes. From 2022 jolle released her first singles and honed her personal songwriting with an EP released in 2023 and stunde null in 2024, blending stories of nights out, identity doubts and questions of mental health. Inclusion on the Hotlist of the New Music Awards 2024 accompanied this rise in visibility. In 2025 the acoustic EP petrichor acoustics and tracks like alle märchen sind gelogen, along with a collaboration with CRO on Märchenwald, extended this emotional, urban aesthetic. Features with artists such as Edo Saiya, Savvy and anaïs, festival appearances and opening slots for CRO and Tokio Hotel position jolle within a generation of artists whose German-language pop draws as much from the club scene as from the intimate.
