Silvana Estrada

Born in Coatepec, in the state of Veracruz, Silvana Estrada develops a musical writing located at the crossroads of Latin American song, acoustic folk and a jazz-informed sensitivity. A singer, songwriter and instrumentalist, she grew up in an environment connected to luthiery, a background that shapes her relationship to timbre, strings and stripped-down formats. Her emergence became clearer in the late 2010s with Lo Sagrado, released in 2017 in collaboration with guitarist Charlie Hunter, before she established a more personal repertoire centered on voice, the cuatro and spare arrangements. With Marchita (2022) Silvana Estrada deepened an intimate aesthetic mixing singer-songwriter material, bolero, folk textures and references to Mexican musical traditions, without seeking emphasis or dense orchestration. Her trajectory places her both within the Mexican independent scene, in acoustic formats and at festivals where her music circulates between song audiences and listeners more open to crossovers between popular music and contemporary composition.
