Sincere Engineer
Formed in Chicago around Deanna Belos, Sincere Engineer began in the mid‑2010s as a solo project before becoming a band rooted in American melodic punk, with pop‑punk, emo and indie rock influences. The name Sincere Engineer refers to Belos’s then‑profession as a civil engineer, and the project’s early steps were taken in a self‑produced context within the local scene. After Probable Claws in 2017, Sincere Engineer released Rhombithian—first issued in 2017 and reissued in 2018—where fast guitars, melodic choruses and very direct songwriting established an identity focused on everyday life, self‑deprecation and a restrained emotional tension. Bless My Psyche, released in 2021, preserves that punk and emo foundation while opening the sound to somewhat broader arrangements. Led by Deanna Belos, Sincere Engineer has since toured North American punk, emo and alternative stages in a band format that keeps its founder’s voice, phrasing and songwriting at the forefront.
