Pool Kids
Formed in 2017 in Tallahassee, Florida, the American band Pool Kids develops a math rock sound infused with emo and indie rock influences, led by the vocals and guitar of Christine Goodwyne, with Caden Clinton on drums, Andy Anaya on guitar and Nicolette Alvarez on bass. From their debut album Music to Practice Safe Sex To, released in 2018, Pool Kids positioned themselves within an independent emo scene characterized by angular guitars, fractured rhythmic structures and melodic vocal lines, the record gaining visibility after public support from Paramore’s Hayley Williams. In 2020 Pool Kids toured with The Wonder Years before activity was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Their second album, simply titled Pool Kids and released in 2022, refined the balance between rhythmic complexity and more direct songwriting, and in 2023 received a European edition via Big Scary Monsters, accompanied by tours with La Dispute and headlining dates in the UK. With Easier Said Than Done, released in 2025 on Epitaph Records, Pool Kids continue this progression on North American and European stages, navigating between emo heritage and a contemporary approach to guitar rock.
