anaiis

A French-Senegalese singer-songwriter born in Toulouse and based in London, anaiis creates music that sits between soul, alternative R&B and jazz influences, often using subtle electronic textures. After a childhood and adolescence split between France, Senegal and other English-speaking countries, her writing mixes English and French and addresses exile, vulnerability and the search for belonging. She emerged in the late 2010s with tracks released online and in 2018 published the EP "before zero", which established an intimate universe centered on the voice and pared-back arrangements. Singles such as "nina" and "lost my faith" honed this blend of contemporary soul and introspective atmosphere, before the 2021 album "this is no longer a dream", a broader project that includes collaborations with Chronixx and Topaz Jones. Alongside her stage and studio work, anaiis develops projects around mental health, with artistic and community initiatives that foreground the experiences of Black women and questions of emotional care.
